Thank You AHEPA!

AHEPA-logo2The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) is one of the largest Hellenic heritage groups in the world and an important community-service organisation in North America. The organisation was founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 1922. Since then it has borne chapters across the world, in Canada, Greece, France, UK, Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Panama, Australia, New Zealand and Cyprus.

On October 28, 1928, AHEPA Supreme President George Philies started the first Canadian Chapter of AHEPA in Toronto.  Ten years after that date, AHEPA was established from coast to coast in Canada, including Montreal, serving the members, and the society.

The mission of the AHEPA Family is to promote Hellenism, education, philanthropy, civic responsibility, as well as family and individual excellence.

This year, the Montreal AHEPA Family worked extremely hard to make its 16th annual Valentine’s Ball a great success, and a wonderful time was had by everyone in attendance.  The spectacular event was held at the Palace Reception Hall, in Laval. Most importantly, $38,000 in proceeds were raised to benefit École Socrates-Démosthène, to help upgrade our school’s technological equipment.

We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the AHEPA Family of Montreal and, particularly to its President, Mr. Jimmy Dionisopoulos and the Organising Committee co-chair persons, Mrs Effie Sapuridis and Mr. Frank Antoniou.
