ACCESS TO KNOWLEDGE: The Socrates Educational Foundation

SEF logoThe Socrates Educational Foundation (SEF) is a unique organisation.  Every year, through valuable support and assistance of its members, many students are provided with access to knowledge.

The SEF is a non-profit organisation.  The SEF’s objectives are listed in its statutes and consist mainly of fundraising and providing financial support for the advancement of trilingual education (French, English and Greek), as well as, offering scholarships and achievement awards to student, providing financial assistance to students, funding to improve and expand school buildings and their surroundings, and to purchase educational equipment and materials.

In the last two years, the SEF has offered the HCGM Socrates-Démosthène School a total amount of over $ 134,000, that is, over $ 69,000 for the 2013-2014 school year and over $ 64,000 for the previous academic year, to cover tuition fees for students whose parents had applied for financial aid.

The SEF, after years of effort, was licensed as a charity in 2003.  The vision behind its founding was that of a group of Socrates School parents and the late Eleni Papadopoulos, former school principal.
