Job posting – Accounting Manager

The Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal (HCGM) is seeking an Accounting Manager to join  its team and actively contribute to the sound financial management and sustainability of the  organization. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing accounting and financial  operations, developing budgets and forecasts, and ensuring regulatory and tax compliance. This is a  full-time permanent position (40 hours per week). 

Location: 5777 Wilderton Avenue, Montreal (Quebec), H3S 2V7 

Start Date: December 2025 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Financial and budget management: Develop, monitor, and analyze annual budgets, ensure  rigorous management of financial resources, and prepare financial reports for management  and the Board of Directors.
  • Accounting supervision: Oversee full-cycle accounting (AR, AP, reconciliations, journal  entries, payroll, consolidated financial statements) and ensure compliance with not-for profit accounting standards. 
  • Team supervision: Lead, train, and support the accounting team to ensure efficiency,  accuracy, and compliance in financial and administrative processes. 
  • Treasury and audits: Manage cash flow and liquidity, prepare documentation for external  audits, and maintain strong internal controls. 
  • Tax and compliance: Prepare and file government and tax reports (GST/QST, T4/RL-1, T4A,  school slips, etc.), ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory obligations.
  •  Analysis and strategy: Conduct financial analyses, modeling, and forecasting to support  strategic decision-making and contribute to long-term planning. 
  • Interdepartmental support: Collaborate with various sectors (education, cultural, religious,  real estate, etc.) to optimize financial and operational resource management. 

Required Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Education: University degree in accounting, finance, or related field. CPA designation  required. 
  • Professional experience: Minimum of 5 years in financial management, including at least 2  in a leadership role, ideally in a not-for-profit or multi-entity structure. 
  • Technical expertise: Strong knowledge of NPO accounting standards, Quebec and  Canadian taxation, budget planning, consolidation, and treasury management.
  • Technology skills: Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting software (Sage,  QuickBooks, Acomba, or equivalent). 
  • Languages: Fluency in French and English required; knowledge of Greek is an asset.
  • Interpersonal skills: Collaborative leadership, attention to detail, organizational skills, and  discretion.

Teaching Staff Wanted
Teaching staff are wanted for the schools of Supplementary Education of the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal (HCGM), “Platon-Omiros,” “Saint Nicholas,” and “Aristotelis High School/Lyceum.” These schools operate every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Montreal, Laval, and South Shore.
Candidates must hold a Secondary or Higher Education Degree from Greece or a Degree from Canada, with an official Certificate of Attainment in Greek (Ellinomatheia) and a work permit in Canada.
