The HCGM Keep the Faith During COVID-19 Fund

From the onset of this crisis, the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal has remained committed to its mission to preserve and perpetuate the Greek Orthodox faith in Montreal. Six weeks ago, the Quebec government began implementing restrictions to help slow the COVID-19 pandemic, our churches closed to the public and thousands of people in our community began following live broadcasts from our churches on Facebook, YouTube and 105.1 FM.

We have done our best to support the faithful during this difficult time, but empty churches have financial consequences.

Approximately one-third of the annual income from our churches is generated from March 25 to Easter Week. We have spent countless hours analyzing our financial position, reducing costs and exploring every option for government assistance we might be eligible for. We are not in a position to say if it will be enough, as operating expenses remain.

Zero income from candle sales or donation trays to support our churches during our busiest time of year jeopardizes the sustainability of our churches, not just now, but long after this crisis is over.

If you are in a position to offer support, the HCGM would greatly appreciate your donation. Any amount you can give will go a long way during this difficult time. Donations greater than $25 will be eligible for a tax receipt from the HCGM.
