ST.GEORGE’S GREEK ORTHODOX CATHEDRAL RESTORATION PROJECT FUNDRAISING UPDATE

Dear readers,
We are pleased to provide you with an update of the exterior Restoration Project of St. George’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
The total estimated coat for the exterior restoration of the Cathedral is estimated at $1,875,000 and will be completed within 2 year timeline in 4 phases as follows:
1. PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY & STAIRS
2. CATHEDRAL BUILDING REPAIRS
3. NEW SIDEWALKS, PAVING & PARKING
4. TOWER CHIME SYSTEM
PHASE 1
Phase 1 construction is now 90% completed and we have achieved 75% of total donations required, thanks to the faith and generosity of our Montreal community. The timeline has been as follows:
- Construction costs were budgeted at $550,000 (not including taxes) and were approved by the HCGM Executive Committee, Board of Directors,HCGM Advisory Board, and members of the community at a special General Meeting held on April 23, 2017.
Public bid requests were published in local media and bids were received in sealed envelopes. The professionals selected for phase 1 were as follows:
Architect: S.LAGOPOULOS
Civil Engineer: BOULVA, VERGANELAKIS & ASSOC.
General Contractor : PERMONT ENTREPRENEURS GENERAUX
Similar processes in choosing professionals will be followed for phases 2,3 &4.
FINANCIAL DETAILS:
Total phase 1 costs are as follows:
Pedestrian walkway & stairs including supporting walls,
bridge supports and drainage $632,500 ($550,000 + $82,500 taxes)
