The Montreal Greek Film Festival is back!
The 5th edition of the MGFF is proud to present the best of contemporary Greek cinema in association with the prestigious New York City Greek Film Festival.
The Montreal Greek Film Festival will be held from
Monday 27th March to Sunday 2nd April 2017
Our presentations and screenings will take place from Monday through Sunday at the Cinema du Parc. For a full listing the films in our lineup, go to www.mgff.ca/films. Tickets can be purchased at Cinema du Parc.
Our Closing Night Reception will be held at the Rialto Theatre, located at 5723 Park avenue in Montreal on Sunday, April 2nd, 2017 at 6:00pm. There will be a cocktail-dinatoire followed by our feature presentation, the biggest-selling Greek film in the last several years, Worlds Apart. The ticket price for the Closing Night is $40, which includes the cocktail and film.
We will also have the honor of celebrating the 40th anniversary of the death our great iconic opera diva, Maria Callas, with a special and exclusive screening of a documentary entitled Our Maria Callas at the Rialto Theater on Sunday, April 2nd at 3:30pm. Tickets for this screening are $10. All proceeds from this unique event will be donated to the schools of the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal.
This year one of our special features will be a mega documentary entitled Fighting Through the Night (running time: 4hr and 45 minutes) from Quebec director and film maker, Sylvain L’Espérance, who spent 2 years in Greece filming the crisis that grappled the country between 2014 and 2016. This movie will play at 1pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Cinema du Parc (with a 30-minute intermission at the half way point). A Q&A session with Sylvain L’Espérance will held immediately following the screening on Friday.
With the support of the Consulate General of Greece and in partnership with the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal, this festival is very much anticipated by both the Greek community and all the devoted Montreal moviegoers at large.
This 5th edition of the Montreal Greek Film Festival will build on its history and is bound to become one of the great ethnic Film festivals in the City! We therefore look forward to seeing you there to help make it a success!
