Open Invitation: Right to Knowledge

right-to-knowledge2Since its founding in 1906, the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal (HCGM) has strived to preserve and promote the Greek language, culture and faith of the population of Hellenic origin in our city. Thanks to the high-quality education provided by the HCGM schools, thousands of students enjoy the privileges of a better life as they have become successful scientists, professionals and entrepreneurs, in our multicultural society, in Quebec, and in Canada.

To ensure the continuation of high-quality education in our trilingual, elementary “Socrates-Démosthène” school and Supplementary Education Saturday schools, “Platon-Omeros”, “Aristotelis” and “St. Nicholas”, the HCGM undertakes various fundraising initiatives, mostly through its Fundraising Committee.

Moreover, the HCGM makes considerable efforts to ensure that our schools are attended by the largest number of students possible, so as to offer them the opportunity to become the ambassadors who will promote and preserve the Hellenic spirit, and therefore ensure the future of our community.

The HCGM is highly sensitised to the financial issues faced by some of our fellow citizens, for whom the cost of the school fees is not affordable. With this in mind, and in order to allow every child of Greek origin the opportunity to become a proud ambassador of our unique culture, the HCGM invites all organisations, associations, committees and entrepreneurs of our community to participate in the new, “Right to Knowledge”, bursary programme.
