In a once in a lifetime historic event, students from HCGM school “Socrates-Démosthène”, under the direction of our choir directors Maria Diamantis and Dimitris Ilias, sang on stage with Quebec legend Jean Pierre Ferland.

The participation was part of the grand spectacle, de la Fête Nationale du Québec à Montréal, on the 23d of June and our young nightingales sang in front of 50,000 people one of Ferland’s most beautiful tunes: Y’a pas deux chansons pareilles.

“Even for me this was a first” admitted choir conductor Dimitris Ilias. ”We are used to perform in halls up to 2,000 seats. This was an unimaginable outdoor concert and the children performed flawlessly. I am honoured and humbled that the organizers chose us as the only choir that night and I am grateful to the schools parents and students for their support.”

Last year, the organizers of the Fête Nationale du Québec à Montréal also worked with Mr. Ilias during la Fête Nationale du Québec à Montreal parade to which, again, our “Socrates-Démosthène” students marched performing their new opus: Temps Des Fleurs Temps des Neiges.

The grand Spectacle was shown on Ici Radio Canada on the 24th of June.
