March 25th Celebrations Announcement

Montreal, February 10, 2025

To all Communities, Schools, Daycare centres, Associations, Folklore groups and Greek organisations,

On March 25th, our Greek Independence Day, we commemorate the start of the War of Greek Independence in 1821.This year, Greeks everywhere are celebrating the 204 anniversary of the beginning of the Greek Revolution.

This year’s celebrations of this historic day, organized by the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal, in which you are invited to participate with your organisation’s members, will take place as follows:

• Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.: Laying of the Wreaths Ceremony at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, 1333 Bd. Chomedey, Laval
• Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.: Official Dinner event in the reception hall «Athena» at Le Château Royal 3500 Bd Souvenir Laval. Ticket price including dinner (4 course meal) $200. For reservations, please call (514) 738-2421, ext. 231
• Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 10:30 am: Doxology at Evangelismos tis Theotokou Church, 777 rue Saint-Roch.
• Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. (Please be there before 12:30p.m. : Greek Parade on Jean-Talon Street, between Hutchison and Stuart streets. Over 2,500 people are expected to participate in this year’s grand parade. As every year, the VIP podium will be in front of Parc Athena (corner of Jean-Talon and Bloomfield). To partially cover costs, the participation fee is $350 for each organisation.
• Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.: Reception for the Greek community at large hosted by the President of the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal, in collaboration with the Consul General of Greece in Montreal, at Le Château Royal 3500 Bd Souvenir Laval

All organisations interested in participating in the above events are invited to attend the information meeting on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 7 p.m. in the “Mikri Vouli” of the HCGM head office, 5777 av. Wilderton, Montréal.

At the meeting, please bring with you:
• The text (up to 50 words, in Greek and French or English) relating to your organisation, which will be read at the parade.
• The cheque in the amount of $350, payable to the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal
