The New Ambassador Goes… Back to School

On Sunday, December 10, 2017, the new Ambassador of Greece to Canada, Dimitris Azemopoulos, visited the HCGM head office, the Hellenic Community Centre Adrian Maris and École Socrates-Démosthène’s campus II.  He was escorted by the HCGM President Nicholas Pagonis who guided him around the building complex.

His Excellency Ambassador Azemopoulos grew up in a family of teachers and has high respect for education.  Particularly impressed by the high quality education offered by our schools, the Ambassador sat at a school desk bearing the name “Dimitris” and from there he was filmed in a video message for Montreal Greeks.

“I felt very emotional and impressed by the power of this Community and its schools which for 111 years teach Greek, English and French in the most perfect way”, said the Ambassador. “Over the years in these classrooms the children, during their most tenderhearted age, learn how important it is to be a Hellene. I would like to express my gratitude to the HCGM, to the directors, the teachers, to the hundreds of people who serve the Community with all their heart. I feel twice as proud to be a Greek when I am visiting a place like this. Why? The HCGM is an example to follow. It is the largest Greek Community on the planet”, concluded Mr. Azemopoulos.
