HCGM Update – Health Guidelines in Our Churches

Further to yesterday’s most recent announcement by the Quebec Government, Quebec’s cases have begun to increase significantly.  As Christmas is almost here, we would like to remind everyone of the provincial guidelines that have been put in place regarding all churches.

On Friday, December 17, a letter was sent by the HCGM to all parish priests and bishops of HCGM churches that, in accordance with the guidelines set by the provincial government, a vaccination passport is required until further notice from the government authorities.   The Parish Priests and Bishops are in agreement.

Vaccine passports are and will continue to be verified at the door for all those wishing to enter for church service. We ask for everyone’s patience and understanding and that we be kind and loving to one another.

The capacity allowance per church: has been reduced to 50% (maximum of 250 people, who must remain seated).  For each church, the capacities are as follows:

  • St-George Cathedral – maximum 180 persons
  • Koimisis Tis Theotokou – maximum 40 persons
  • Evangelismos Tis Theotokou – maximum 180 persons
  • Timios Stavros – maximum 105 persons
  • St-Nicholas Church – maximum 70 persons
  • St. Jean-Baptist – maximum 70 persons

For weddings, baptisms and funerals, there is the possibility of holding a ceremony without a vaccination passport with a maximum of 25 people.

We all need to continue working together during these most trying and unique times to remain safe and healthy. Thank you in advance for your respectful cooperation and understanding.

We have provided below for your convenience the web link to the most current COVID-19 Measures for Quebec for all essential and non-essential services, as well as the update that will go into effect as of Monday, December 26.
