Holy Week 2021 Guidelines

We are saddened that once again this year we will not be able to celebrate Easter as we would have hoped. However, it is our obligation and duty, with unconditional love, to make it possible for as many who wish to enter the church.

We ask for your understanding and cooperation to accommodate everyone’s needs, by adhering to the following guidelines:

  • We must continue to adhere to the the government mandated 25-person limit inside the church
  • When the maximum capacity is met, we ask that you wait patiently outside respecting the 2 meter distance.
  • During the church service, there will be a frequent rotation of the faithful inside the church, announced by the Priests. Please follow their direction and leave the church to make space for others, as we should all have a chance to worship during this Holy Week.
  • A steady stream of people will be permitted to enter the church to simply light a candle, venerate icon/Epitafio and quickly depart
  • Please listen to the volunteers and respect their directives as they along with the priests will be doing their best to accommodate everyone.
  • Masks must be worn inside of the church at all times.
  • There will be no outdoor procession of the Epitafio on Good Friday.

For Holy Saturday, The Resurrection, the following additional guidelines apply:

  • The Service will begin at approximately 4:30 pm and will end at 7 pm.
  • Once the 25 person maximum capacity has been met, we ask that you return to your car and wait there. You can follow the service from St. George’s Cathedral online here: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheHCGM
  • GATHERING OUTSIDE THE CHURCH WILL BE STRICTLY NOT PERMITTED.
  • Once the Holy Light of the Resurrection is available, volunteers will exit the church to distribute the Holy Light to you in your car.  Volunteers will remain outside distributing Holy Light until 7 pm.
  • For anyone who would like to participate in the service following the Resurrection, they will be permitted into the church but the 25 person limit continues to apply and we kindly ask that you follow the directives of the priests.

Although this is far from ideal, we believe that if we all follow these directives we will be able to make the best of a difficult situation. We ask for your patience and that  we be kind and loving to one another.

May we all have a Blessed Easter and Kali Anastasi.
